+I have been thinking about this thread for the last couple of 
+days, and I am sorry I let myself to be side-tracked into 
+a stupid argument about the Christianity and religion and stuff. 
+Right now I read linkffn(9203082) and that made me into thinking 
+about forgiveness and anger again (BTW, I am just in the seventh 
+chapter, but it looks quite good).

+There is that thing about being angry. First of all, let me make 
+it clear, that I have no idea what your mother did to you, and 
+certainly I have not experienced like that personally, so I have 
+no way to even comprehend what you feel. Nevertheless, I know 
+a bit about being angry for other reasons.

+One very smart lady told me once (and she without doubt read it 
+somewhere herself), that anger is the public show of our fear. 
+I am not sure whether it is true physiologically (I am not 
+a doctor, brain physiologist, psychiatrist, or anything of that 
+sort), but I found out repeatedly that it is very helpful 
+thinking about my anger in this way. When I get to the argument 
+with my wife, it is usually very interesting to think what 
+actually made me angry with her (and unfortunately, I am thinking 
+that only later, too often too much later). There may be some

+I haven’t experienced true child abuse, but I went through share 
+of anger in my life. I grew up in the Communist Czechoslovakia 
+and whenever I think how much my life (and life of my parents!) 
+was screwed up by Them, I go out of control how much angry I am. 
+How much opportunity I lost because I couldn't grow up in the 
+normal country, how much hurt and debilitated my parents were (my 
+father got his heart attack during the interrogation of the false 
+accusation of rape by the secret police). And I may perfectly 
+know it is completely irrational (well, now less than five years 
+ago; oh well), but there is still fear they will return again, or 
+that I may never recover what I've lost.

+Of course, my receipts on what to do with such fear are useless 
+to you (giving my trust in the God’s Providence, etc.), but still 
+I think it is better to understand our fears (and yes, as Seneca 
+wrote, if we didn't control our fear, it controlled ourselves), 
+then to think there is something good about it.

+As I wrote elsewhere_, I am not a big fan of Harmony stories (stories, where
+the main pairing is Harry/Hermione), but when they happen, I usually don’t
+discount them automatically, and some of them are really nice. Linked story,
+“`Escape by SingularOddities`_” is rather nice, but as with all stories, when
+the author moved from rewriting JKR books into her (his?) own story, the
+quality dramatically improved in “`Mr and Mrs Percy Weasley`_”. The biggest
+problem I had until recently with Harmony stories is relentless bashing of most
+interesting characters in stories (mainly Weasleys, but Mr. Dumbledore, as
+well).

+However, then I read this excellent essay about problems with Harmonians, and
+my first reaction was rather negative. There are some problems with the stories
+I read, and I have described them in the linked review above, but the essay
+seemed to be too dramatic.

+And then I read “`Notebooks and Letters by chem prof`”. The main idea of the
+story is very interesting: Hermione tells to her daughter how it really
+happened, and it is AU since “The Order of Phoenix”. Of course, Hermione here
+is not happy with JKR (they sold rights to the story in the Summer of 1997 to
+have enough money for the hunt of horcruxes) for many reasons (and many of her
+particular criticisms are completely valid), but mainly because of JKR’s
+shipping Hinny and because what she considers degrading description of her in
+“The Half-Blood Prince”.
+
+As I said, the setting of the story (its metastory) is rather nice. The main
+story itself is just an average not too much over the top super!Harry &
+super!Hermione story (in the end most DeathEaters, including Lucius & Draco
+Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Antonin Dolohov, are killed by few Dumbledore Army
+members including naked Hermione (naked because she was going to be raped) and
+Harry).

+I see it like this. Lily was already pregnant with her second 
+child (it is slightly over a year between Harry and Ginny so it 
+is biologically possible), when they found out about the Prophecy 
+and need to hide. They've agreed to hide Ginny with Weasleys' 
+(no, sorry, their anti-girl-curse, if there was a one, has not 
+been broken then, and yes it helped Ginny was a natural redhead 
+after her mother), which they did slightly after her postpartum 
+period (that is after September 22nd). All Weasley boys were 
+memory charmed to have included their Mum being pregnant again 
+(which, frankly, was not that difficult charm to make, because 
+everybody remembers her being pregnant all the time ;)). Then 
+Potters started to work on preparing place for Harry with 
+Dursleys, but they have never managed to finish it and they never 
+told Vernon & Petunia, before they were killed on October 31st. 
+Which was the reason why Dumbledore put Harry with Dursleys (he 
+actually never really understood the mechanics of those blood 
+wards, because they were Lilly's unfinished invention, or 
+something).

+These two will find out only when told in Harry's fifth or sixth

+Právě si čtu knihu „`Love Your Enemies: How Decent People Can 
+Save America from the Culture of Contempt`_“ (Miluj svoje 
+nepřátele: jak slušní lidé mohou zachránit Ameriku od kultury 
+pohrdání) od Arthura C. Brookse. Je to celkem sympatická kniha, 
+ale zatím (ještě jsem ji nedočetl), se mi zdá taková docela 
+banální. Autor lamentuje nad tím, jak se konverzace 
+nesouhlasících lidí v Americe zhroutila a jak vše nahradil jenom 
+boj lidí, kteří jeden druhým pohrdají a vnímají druhého nikoli 
+jako partnery v dialogu ale jako nepřátele. A reakcí je nikoli 
+zájem o názory druhého nebo polemika s ním, ale snaha druhého 
+pošpinit a znemožnit. Jeho analýza mi připadla docela povrchní 
+a jednostranná. Někde jsou nějací lidé, kteří pohrdají druhými 
+a ničí to naši americkou společnost. Nezabývá se otázkou kolik 
+lidí samo sebe považuje za pohrdajícího druhými a kolik jich je 
+ochotno předstoupit před Contemptuous Anonymous a prohlásit 
+„Ahoj, já jsem John a pohrdám druhými. Moje závislost se

+Musel jsem přerušit čtení (resp. poslouchání čtené ebook), 
+protože začal program Vojtěcha Kodeta na Katolické Charismatické 
+konferenci na Jan 15, podobenství o vinném kmeni a ratolestech 
+(“Já jsem vinný kmen a vy jste ratolesti…”). Došel na téma 
+milosti a zdůrazňoval (zcela správně), jak je v katolické církvi 
+(a nejen v ní, dodávám já) rozšířen šílený blud nesprávného 
+chápání milosti jako výsledku našeho snažení: „Nejprve se musíš 
+dát dohromady, aby Ti Bůh mohl požehnat. Pomož si a Bůh Ti 
+pomůže.“ No a mě samozřejmě napadalo `o čem jsem už psal jinde`_, 
+že je naprosto absurdní uvažovat o společném (všekřesťanském) 
+slavení Večeře Páně jenom jako výrazu už dosažené jednoty (slyšel 
+jsem od mnoha i upřímných katolíků, že nemůžeme sloužit společnou 
+Večeři Páně/Eucharistii, protože nežijeme v jednotě). Opravdu mám 
+já, protestant, vysvětlovat katolíkům, že Večeře Páně není jenom 
+připomínka minulé události (zde sjednocení se jednot), ale

+Po přednášce P. Kodeta následovalo velice dojemné svědectví 
+studenta semináře o jeho velmi komplikovaném duchovním životě 
+(jednu dobu byl skinhead zatímco vedl chvály v katolické farnosti 
+na Lhotce). Vyprávěl o tom, jak bojoval s tím, jak (už jako 
+student semináře) začal chodit s nějakou slečnou. Tvrdil, že ho 
+velice štvala jednoduchá řešení a povrchní svědectví a jak 
+nakonec nenalezl žádné řešení ve svém boji (nevím, jak moc je to 
+přesně pravda, protože zjevně stále je v semináři a mluví o tom 
+nahlas, takže se pravděpodobně se slečnou rozešel).

+A já jsem se nemohl najednou zmoci na nic jiného nežli nahlas 
+pronést cosi o hříších katolické církve. Samozřejmě, že si 
+myslím, že nakládání povinnosti celibátu, kde to podle mého není 
+správné (celibát je dobrý a svatý, ale Bible se zdá specificky 
+naznačovat, že není nutný pro postavení faráře; a i pokud se dají 
+sloučit, tak je povinnost celibátu pro všechny kněží podle mého 
+zbytečným lidským pravidlem týrající dotčené, jako „desátek
+z máty, kopru a kmínu“ (Mat. 23:23-28)). A strašně jsem se nad 
+tím vnitřně rozčiloval. Když jsem se nad tím vztekem přistihl, 
+začal jsem uvažovat, proč se tak rozčiluji. Vztek je přece jak se 
+strach projevuje navenek a pokud se silně rozčilujeme, je to 
+většinou o něčem, co se týká dotýká nás, nikoli o abstraktních 
+problémech.
+
+Netrvalo mi to ani moc dlouho, abych pochopil, že je to vlastně 
+o neúctě. Možná ne přímo pohrdání, to je možná trochu moc vědomé 
+a silné, ale jemný odstup a pocit nadřazenosti. A hned vzápětí mě 
+napadl termín „structural racism“ (rasismus ve strukturách). 
+Kdykoli zmíním cosi o nedostatku ekumenismu, tak mi okamžitě 
+všichni zmíní, kterak všichni přítomní katolíci (nebo dokonce 
+konkrétní osoba) jsou velmi přátelští k protestantům. To je sice 
+pravda, skutečně jsem za těch dvaadvacet let Katolických 
+charismatických konferencí zažil jedinkrát osobu, která projevila 
+nechuť k protestantům a hned se opravila a byť ji to zřejmě 
+dělalo problém, chovala se dále alespoň slušně.
+
+Ale zároveň je v celém katolické zbožnosti nějak přítomen spíše 
+pocit odstupu a povýšenosti nad námi. Nejedná se jenom o velké 
+věci, jako že nejsme dost dobří, abychom byli připuštěni 
+k Eucharistii (a aby protestantská Večeře Páně byla dost dobrá 
+i pro katolíky). Jedná se o modlitby za „bratry odloučené“,
+dokonce o modlitby za smíření „s Židy, muslimy a protestanty“ 
+nebo neustálá snaha o konverzi protestantů na tu naší pravou 
+víru. Naštěstí ani jednu tuhle hrůzu jsem nezažil na KChKo (nebo 
+jenom velmi vzácně) a to první je už snad vytlačováno 
+i oficiálně, ale ten postoj je podle mého stále přítomný. Nebo 
+možná jsem moc přecitlivělý a příliš si shromažďuji minulá 
+zranění.

+Píšu tohle druhý den a svět je trochu jiný. Najednou ta hořkost 
+ztratila značnou část ostrosti a cítím se zmateně, jako bych 
+vytahoval nějaké zranění, které vlastně reálně neexistuje. 
+Zároveň vím, že to není úplně pravda. Opravdu se dá pět set (nebo 
+kolik) let nenávisti a pohrdání odstranit během několika 
+desetiletí ne příliš intenzivní snahy? Opravdu je nepravdivé mé 
+pozorování, jak málo lidí se skutečně zajímá o smíření mezi 
+jednotami (z obou stran)? A zajímá skutečně jednota mezi různými 
+jednotami někoho jiného nežli mě? Vždyť každý máme dost svých 
+starostí na svém (i církevním) písečku a proč bychom se starali 
+o druhé (to je konec konců, co mi řekl ten katolický přítel, 
+kterému jsem psal ten dopis, že)? Nesnažím se podstrkávat Pánu 
+Bohu na jeho agendu něco, co on tam teď nemá? Jsem ochoten vůbec 
+věřit, že během mého života dojde k tomu, že by se křesťané 
+opravdu o toto sjednocení vážně zase začali zajímat? Zajímám se 
+o něj opravdu já, kromě příležitostí, kdy nesmím k Eucharistii na 
+této konferenci? Možná na to opravdu není čas, protože mám pocit, 
+že všechny dveře jsou zavřené a Pán Bůh zjevně k nikomu jinému 
+moc nemluví.

+A možná právě tento nezájem a spokojenost ve svém rybníčku, 
+kochání se ve své nadřazenosti (z obou stran), je ta neúcta, 
+která mně nejvíce vadí. „Pane, daj v prostřed uhoditi!“ „Odpusť 
+jim, neboť skutečně nevědí, co činí.“

+Není to samoúčelné. Umožňuje to kompletní vydání našeho 
+i modlitebního života Bohu. Ale je to nástroj, ne cíl. Cílem je 
+život v přítomnosti Boží a naslouchání Jemu. Umožňuje to nečekaně 
+věci, ale pokud pro společenství s Bohem pomáhá něco jiného, 
+studium Písma, modlitební procházky, psaní deníku, zakleknut
